Disable Subscription Warning in Proxmox

Whenever you login to Proxmox you are greeted with an alert stating “You do not have a valid subscription for this server. Please visit www.proxmox.com to get a list of available options.” The point of this alert is to entice you into buying a support subscription from the guys that make Proxmox. While I have absolutely no problem with a company trying to make money (especially when the actual product they offer is free), I’m a typical hardheaded engineer-turned-sysadmin, so of course I don’t need support! As such, this alert is incredibly annoying and utterly pointless (for me). This short tutorial will demonstrate how you can remove the alert.

Proxmox is a great piece of software, and the devs deserve to be compensated for their work. If a support subscription is right for you or your organization then please consider purchasing one from Proxmox!

Disabling the subscription warning is pretty simple. All you have to do is edit a single line in a single file to accomplish it.

To begin, make a backup copy of the file that has to be edited:

Next, edit the file. Note that at the time of writing, the line that needs to be edited is 488. The line number may change in future releases, so be sure you’re on the correct line before editing.

Find the line:

and change it to

Save the file and exit. From now on, whenever you open the Proxmox UI you will not receive the alert.
